In a close-knit village in Kosovo, families struggle to make ends meet, anxious for news of husbands, fathers and sons taken by the war. When Fahrije’s bees stop producing honey, she decides to pass her driver’s license and ventures into town to sell homemade ajvar at a local grocery store. Her naiveté and ambition test the inhabitants of a naturally conservative town where patriarchal and traditional notions of society still prevail. In order to survive, she has to overcome the insults and physical attacks that try to prevent her from being able to fend for herself.
