UNZUÉ. JUANCAR’S LAST TEAM is a portrait of Juan Carlos Unzué’s day-to-day life for two and a half years, since the former Barça goalkeeper and coach made his diagnosis public in June 2020. Unzué set out to do two things: on the one hand, to raise awareness of the disease, ALS, and on the other, to organize a big event to raise as much money as possible to dedicate to research. The documentary provides an exhaustive follow-up of all the meetings and conversations with FC Barcelona and Manchester City leaders to organize a soccer match, which was played at Camp Nou on August 24, with an attendance of more than 91,000 spectators and which raised a record 4.3 million euros, destined to ALS research. In parallel, Juan Carlos literally opens the doors of his house, showing the evolution of his physical degeneration. A project that arose in the sports department of Televisión de Catalunya to give a voice to Juan Carlos and those affected by the disease and their families.
